Seeking an IT Partner for the web + Print-on-Demand publication "I, Architect" About the Magazine A journalistic enterprise related to the realm of critical and current thought in architecture, with a focus on India. It has a primary online presence, and has a periodicity of producing content on a monthly basis. Each month carries original content themed around a focussed subject. Objective and Mission Statement To be the voice and commentator of the new and upcoming, young and emergent, fresh and evolving – the future of architecture in India Positioning and target readership The magazine fills a long-existing void in the journalistic universe of Architecture in India. It challenges and moves the established status-quo. The target audience is the young architects – students, academics, thinkers and professionals – who would be the future movers and shakers of Indian Architecture. It consistently contains material that is not driven by advertising or institutional motives, but supplies the need for critical enquiry and information to the practice and theory of Architecture. Differentiator The magazine occupies a white-space between existing formats and publications. The magazine is neither of the following known formats of published architectural journalism: • Monthly news-stand print publications – A+D, IA&B, Architectural Review, Architectural Record, A.D. etc • Online publications – architexturez.net, indianarchitecture.net, worldarchitecturenews.com • Institutional Print Journals – COA Magazine, Domus Instead, it is a strategic advertisement-free combination of all of the above, in the ethos of high-impact, low-cost, high circulation and low-maintenance The Online Version The free online accessible version of the monthly issue – delivered in the structure of an online publication. Contains RSS feeds and syndication services, and has a free (OpenID) login-authorized access. It links up to social networking via the end-user. This online version is also the primary marketing and outreach arm of the magazine, carrying announcements, submission infrastructure and social networking outreach. The free downloadable issue The monthly issue is also downloadable free for desktop view, as a slide-show, flip-book or pdf format. This carries low-resolution images and raster text for copy-paste protection, but is free for redistribution under the Creative Commons Non-Commercial Share-Alike license The paid downloadable issue The monthly issue is available as a paid download in a pdf format, with high-resolution graphics and vector text. It is copyright protected as an e-book with the necessary ISBN Number The print-on-demand issue – B/W edition This is the print-and-deliver-on-demand black-and white edition of the monthly issue. It is in paperback format; copyright protected and carries ISBN identification. The print-on-demand full-colour edition This is the full-colour version of the monthly edition. Indegene is the product of a group of multi-disciplinary architecture, design and management professionals. Incorporated as a Limited Liability Partnership, the aim is to take the diverse skill-sets of the founders and build a collaborative organization. The aim of this for-profit organization is to evolve into an exponential product of the aspirations of its participants – and not be a mere summation. Indegene intends to attract like-minded skills and professionals over time, as stake-holders and participants, adding to its depth of expertise and ability. Objectives

The IT Brief The IT requirement of the system is based on the various technological aspects of the online version, as well as revenue-earning tools: • The CMS [Content Management System]: o Built using off-the shelf applications [Wordpress/Plone/Drupal/etc]. The CMS includes the monthly magazine [as opposed to a more frequently updated content source]. This monthly magazine would be archived/retired with every subsequent issue. o Besides the magazine, there is a news aggregator with live twitter-stream access. o Additional content features being explored are a community-building tool [Possibly using Ning], but this is still subject to debate, based on positioning and differentiator of the brand/product. o Lastly, there needs to be a submission/contribution infrastructure for readers and users to submit original work as part of the periodic competitions. • The e-commerce platform: a purchase gateway for users to buy online content, as well as print-on-demand publications. To be built using available systems [CCAvenue, OS Commerce].

Specific goals

Expectations from the IT partner: • Build the system from scratch, liaisoning with a single point of contact from the Indegene and I, Architect team. • Provide training [approximately 10 hrs] to a +140 IQ member of the editorial team for managing content and commerce on a frequent basis, without having to rely on external support. • Provide periodic technical support if required
